“Does God forgive ALL sins? You don’t understand what I have done, where I have been.” These are some of the most common words that I hear everywhere from believers.
Naturally, the devil is a condemner of man. But as Christians, we must have knowledge of the truth to be able to stand convinced of the forgiving power of God.
The prerequisites to God’s forgiveness
If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.
1 John 1:9
Before I try to convince you that God does forgive, let us establish the reliability of the word of God. The bible is the one absolute source of truth.
And whatever it says in there is true. Let the word of God be true and every man a liar.
Ok so after we have agreed on that, let us move on.
The bible says that when we confess our sins to God, He is faithful and just to forgive us. What that means is that God is a man of his word. By being faithful it means that He will keep His promises. If He says He will do it, He will do it.
And God being just, means that He is fair. He is a just God. And His fairness means that He will not forgive you because of the gravity of your sin. I know most of you, when undergoing the self-condemnation, wonder, Does God forgive all sins?
When He says He will forgive you when you confess simply means that confession is the only pre-requisite. He doesn’t look at the sin. So my dears, trust in the word of God and trust that all you need is to confess if you need your sins to be forgiven. Just confess and you will be cleansed from all unrighteousness.
1. Repentance brings forgiveness
Repent, therefore, and turn again, that your sins may be blotted out,
Acts 3:19
The bible is clear. When you want to be forgiven you have to repent from your sin. And when we repent we can receive the Holy Spirit.
According to https://www.merriam-webster.com/, the definition of repentance is
To turn from sin and dedicate oneself to the amendment of one’s life
Feeling regret or contrition
To change one’s mind
So what does this mean? It DOES NOT mean to simply intentionally commit sin knowing that if and when you need forgiveness God will be there with His arms wide open, waiting to forgive you. No.
Repentance is when you see how bad your actions have been. And you are ashamed of what you have done. And come to God with utter regret for what you have done. Then commit to not doing it again. This is what repentance is.
Repentance must accompany change
It must not be something that you do all the time. But an act was done at the point of turnaround. When you say God, I realize the sins that I have committed. I am sorry and ashamed. But please forgive me and I will not do this again.
And when you do this and seriously work on not repeating the same mistake then God will forgive you. Regardless of what you have done. Many people wonder, Does god forgive all sins? Yes, He does. When you repent He will forgive ALL your sins.
It doesn’t matter if you have killed someone, stolen lied, broken a marriage, had an abortion, sexual immorality, God will forgive you when you come to Him with a contrite spirit seeking His face.
2. Forgive others to be forgiven
For if you forgive others their trespasses, your heavenly Father will also forgive you, but if you do not forgive others their trespasses, neither will your Father forgive your trespasses.
Matthew 6:14-15
This is one example where people don’t realize its importance. Forgiveness is a very important aspect of our lives as Christians. Jesus said to forgive 70×7 times.
It doesn’t matter what anyone did to us. We must forgive. Unforgiveness is like drinking poison hoping someone else will die.
It affects the withholder. And that is you. Unforgiveness is also a sin and we already know that sin causes open doors to the devil to attack us.
Jesus said as much as we forgive is as much as we are forgiven. So if we want to be forgiven, we must also be forgiven.
Does God forgive all sins? Many believers are afraid their sin is unforgivable. But when you also forgive others, God will also forgive all your sins
3. Confess your sins
I acknowledged my sin to you, and I did not cover my iniquity; I said, “I will confess my transgressions to the Lord,” and you forgave the iniquity of my sin. Selah
Psalm 32:5
When we confess our sins to God, we will receive forgiveness.
Confession is acknowledging our wrongdoing and making it known to God.
When we confess we come to God and say, ” God I acknowledge what I have done. I have sinned against you by doing this and that. Please forgive me.”
There is immense power in confession. When we confess we are swallowing our pride. Pride says, ” I am perfect and without flaws.” But confession is saying, ” I am broken, weak, and am a sinner.”
God loves contrite people
God loves the broken and contrite people. This is the posture that He desires of us. A posture of humility, weakness, and desperation.
Acknowledging that only your saving power can save me from my sin.
So if we want to be forgiven we must admit our sin, own it by acknowledging it, and then ask for forgiveness. And God is a man of his word will forgive you. Does God forgive all sins, you may be conflicted with this question. Yes, He does.
Whatever it is, confess and believe that ALL your sins are forgiven.
My little children, I am writing these things to you so that you may not sin. But if anyone does sin, we have an advocate with the Father, Jesus Christ the righteous.
1 John 2:1
4. Give your life to Jesus
And you, who were dead in your trespasses and the uncircumcision of your flesh, God made alive together with him, having forgiven us all our trespasses, by canceling the record of debt that stood against us with its legal demands. This he set aside, nailing it to the cross.
Colossians 2:13-14
This is the ultimate way to get forgiveness.
When Adam and Eve sinned, sin entered into the world. And we were all born with sin. The law was impossible to keep that is why God sent His son Jesus to die for us on the cross.
So that whosoever believes in Him will not die, for inability to meet all the requirements of the law. But by believing that Jesus Christ is the son of God and that He died and on the third day he rose and went to heaven. We will receive salvation.
Salvation is the ultimate deliverance from sin.
It is the act of being sentenced to death because of our sin.
When we are saved by the grace of God, we receive salvation. And through salvation, all our sins are forgiven.
Sounds to be good to be true I know.
That is why it’s called the good news. It’s that simple.
“For God so loved the world, that he gave his only Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life.
John 3:16
We only need to believe in Jesus. And all our sins are forgiven. Next time you ask yourself, Does God forgive all sins? Remember this. Only believe in Jesus and all your sins will be forgiven. This is the greatest story ever told. Best news ever delivered.
What does the Bible say about God’s forgiveness?
So, the point here is to assure you, who is in doubt that God forgives certain sins and doesn’t forgive others.
That is the devil. Don’t give him an ear. He is the father of lies and his mission is to condemn you. To make you doubt your salvation. And continue reminding you of your past.
When he condemns you, he pulls you back. And makes you wonder, Does God forgive all sin? You can not progress further to be who God created you to be when you are in doubt. To inherit and enjoy all that he has in store for you.
Listen, it doesn’t matter what you did. It doesn’t matter how bad it is. Doesn’t matter what effect it had on you or on others.
You must also forgive yourself.
This is another main reason why people still doubt the forgiving power of God.
It’s not God. But it is you. Forgive yourself. Because you are the only one still holding on to unforgiveness. God already forgave you.
“I,I am he who blots out your transgressions for my own sake, and I will not remember your sins.
Isaiah 43:25
If this verse here doesn’t restore lost hope I don’t know what will. God promises you that He will blot out all your transgressions.
Blotting out means wiping away or destroying.
God, after forgiving us, definitely wipes away any memory of our sins. All the evidence will be gone. So to everyone unsure and asking, Does God forgive all sins? Yes, He wipes away EVERY LAST TRACE.
Of course, if you commit a crime here on earth. Like committing murder, there are systems in place that will have you pay for your sin. You will be arrested and sent to jail.
But God has forgiven you. You will be in jail on earth but forgiven by the one who matters the most.
So next time you hear the devil reminding you of your sins. Tell him he is the only one remembering this sin. God has blotted it out.
I know many people haunted by a sin committed decades ago because of the devil’s lies.
“Come now, let us reason together, says the Lord: though your sins are like scarlet, they shall be as white as snow; though they are red like crimson, they shall become like wool.
Isaiah 1:18
Picture the deep color of blood. Bloodstains. And the stain is difficult to get out. But when God forgives you, He wipes all the sin away.
He wipes it all away until it’s white as snow.
Remind the devil that next time. That my sins have been blotted out. The stain that my sin left is now white as snow. When he starts making you doubt by whispering Does God forgive all sins, tell Him Yes he does. Because the bible says so.
He will again have compassion on us; he will tread our iniquities underfoot. You will cast all our sins into the depths of the sea.
Micah 7:19
God promises to cast ALL our sins in the depths of the sea. Imagine how deep the sea is. When something is thrown in the depth of the sea you can not find it. It’s lost forever.
That is how and what God does to our sins when He forgives us.
And remember that God is not a man that He should lie. If He says that he has cast your sins in the depths of the sea. Trust Him that He has. Don’t believe the devil when he says, Does god forgive all sins. Because He does.
And when you confess your sin, repent, give your life to him but continue asking for forgiveness over and over again you are confusing God.
Your Role in being forgiven by God
You can not trust God and continue asking for forgiveness. When He forgives you once that’s it. You can not continue asking him to forgive you. He will be probably thinking like, forgive you for what, by the way?? Because He doesn’t even remember what you are talking about. It’s already in the sea.
Please let us not stress God endlessly by trying to make Him figure out what sin you are referring to.
I am preaching to myself here. The main culprit. Used to always judge and condemn myself asking, Does God forgive all sins?
Trust that God forgives you once
Always repenting and confessing endlessly for sins that I did decades ago. I learned that continuously confessing for the same thing displays a lack of trust in God. If you trust Him there is no need to keep bringing the same issue up.
So to answer this popular question,
Remember this, it doesn’t matter what you did. It doesn’t matter. So please believe this and remember each time you ask yourself Does God forgive all sins, He does. God forgives ALL sin
