KJV Dictionary defines trust as
What it means to trust God
Trusting God is thus having unwavering confidence and reliance on God. It means knowing beyond any doubt whatsoever that God is looking out for you.
I have a go-to example that I always love using when I am describing my newfound relationship with God. This is that of the relationship between a baby and its mother.
A baby absolutely has no care or worry in the world because they know that whatever they need in their life their mama will sort it out.
To me, that is what the trusting in God in all circumstances bible verse means.
It means casting away any doubt, fear, or concern for everything, and relaxing and basking in the sort of freedom that a baby has.
Trusting God in all circumstances bible verses
Proverbs 3:5
Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and do not lean on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge him, and he will make straight your paths.
This trusting God in all circumstances bible verse is a basis of the key ingredient for trusting God, which is surrender.
You can not trust God fully or even partially if you are not surrendered to him.
Surrendering everything to God implies surrendering all your pre-conceived ideas, thoughts, plans, and desires over to God.
What happens when you surrender is that you cast down any and everything that you thought you knew and make God’s plans and intentions over your life take over.
When you lean on your own understanding you have not surrendered.
Trusting God says, God, I have no idea where you are taking me, but I know that you are taking me somewhere great.
How do I know this?
Jeremiah 29:11
For I know the plans I have for you, declares the Lord, plans for welfare and not for evil, to give you a future and a hope.
The plans that God has for us are perfect.
Even if we don’t understand why, when, how, and what, the mere knowledge that his plans will not fail us will help us to keep calm during the process.
I know it’s not easy to let go and let someone else have control over your life.
It’s natural to wanna be in control, to have a backup plan in case it doesn’t work.
But when you trust in God in all circumstances, it gets to a stage where you say, God if I perish, I perish.
You are THE plan and there is no plan B. It’s you or nothing.
Try this sis and see if God will not show up and show off.
God doesn’t reveal ALL his plans for your life from A to Z. He only asks you to trust him, in the season that you are in.
Even if it doesn’t make sense why you may be feeling the way you are feeling trusting God in all circumstances enables you to remain at ease and at peace knowing that:
Romans 8:28
And we know that for those who love God all things work together for good, for those who are called according to his purpose.
This bible verse about trusting God in difficult times is my rock each time.
In my 35 years of life, I have been through the most just like you and me.
But looking back to where I have come from and what I have been through.
Even before I was walking with God. I see the hand of God in my life.
The fact that I am here and seeing his hand in my life I am convinced that indeed all things work together for good to those that love the Lord and to those who are called according to his purpose.
When you love God and you know that you are walking in his purpose for you, whenever you come across a hiccup in your life.
Remember that whatever situation that you are in, God is in control and that this experience is part of something great.
The outcome will be great. Your present situation is part of an amazing testimony in the making.
So remind yourself to always practice trusting in God in all circumstances.
Jeremiah 17:7-8
“Blessed is the man who trusts in the Lord, whose trust is the Lord. He is like a tree planted by water, that sends out its roots by the stream, and does not fear when heat comes, for its leaves remain green, and is not anxious in the year of drought, for it does not cease to bear fruit.”
To be honest, since I started walking with God faithfully I have never failed at anything.
Listen, sis, like you, I face challenges in my life but one thing that I have learned is to trust in God.
The power of trusting God in all circumstances gives you peace and saves you from unnecessary anxiety in your life.
Whenever a challenge comes to me, one that would usually keep me awake at night trying to resolve.
I just say well God, I trust you, you will not forsake or let me be put to shame.
I used to be a worrier because my life was mine, I had to sort everything out and fix all my issues on my own.
But praise God I relieved myself of that burden, life is complicated. I chose the easy way out trusting in God.
To me, it’s easy because the life I live now is not mine anymore but for me to live is Christ.
So, if it’s his life, he may as well have to do the worrying, right? Not me!!
Like I always say, I am just a tenant and this house is God’s.
When there is a leakage he will have to fix it. Before I was a house owner and all the burden lay on me.
And how exhausting that was!!
I gave up stress, fear, worry, and anxiety for peace.
Now I just live, pay my rent and when there is an issue I call the landlord- he will take care of everything.
Scriptures on trusting God
Psalm 37:4-6
Delight yourself in the Lord, and he will give you the desires of your heart. Commit your way to the Lord; trust in him, and he will act. He will bring forth your righteousness as the light, and your justice as the noonday.
This scripture on trusting God highlights the benefits of trusting in God.
When you delight yourself in God, it means that you seek and find joy, satisfaction, and peace only in God.
It means that everything that you need in your life will be found in him. Your peace, joy, and happiness will be in him.
This is an act of surrender.
When all that you desire and makes you whole is in him alone, the Bible says in this scripture on trusting God then he will give you the desires of your heart.
When you surrender to God, base everything on him, then he will give you everything that you desire.
So sis, if you are trusting God in all circumstances be it for a husband, for a child, or trusting him for financial breakthrough. The Bible says that you need to first delight yourself in the Lord.
Just like Matthew said when he said to seek first the kingdom and righteousness of God and in turn, everything else that you desire will be added unto you.
Joshua 1:9
Have I not commanded you? Be strong and courageous. Do not be frightened, and do not be dismayed, for the Lord your God is with you wherever you go.”
Listen, my dear sister. In your Christian journey, you need to believe and understand and make this scripture on trusting God immovable in your heart.
When you believe that God will absolutely be with you everywhere you go nothing can stop you.
You will soar to greater heights and you will not allow fear, doubt, and or insecurity to stop you.
Knowing that the creator of heaven and earth is always with you and that you are strengthened by Christ then you truly can do and be anything.
When you are trusting in God in all circumstances you will be unshakable in your conviction.
Psalm 46:10
“Be still, and know that I am God. I will be exalted among the nations, I will be exalted in the earth!”
Be still and know that he is God in every situation is an amazing scripture on trusting God.
God on the mountain is still God in the valley. When you live a life of absolute trust and surrender it is not hard to be still in every situation.
Panicking, fear and stress in difficult times are signs of not trusting God. When you are trusting in God in all circumstances, you have no fear in the world.
Nothing can scare you when you know that you are loved and protected by the creator of heaven and earth.
Bible verse on trusting God In difficult times
Matthew 6:25
“Therefore I tell you, do not be anxious about your life, what you will eat or what you will drink, nor about your body, what you will put on. Is not life more than food, and the body more than clothing?
This trusting God in all circumstances bible verse is one of the oldest in terms of explaining how God is our provider. And indeed, we serve Jehovah Jireh, our provider.
I know this is better said than understood but sis I am telling you that God will never let you sleep on an empty stomach when you trust in him.
Listen, I am not naive. I know that many people in the world go to bed hungry. I know this.
But my tip for them or to you if you are faced with uncertainty, especially as single mammas I know how tough life can be.
Not knowing where the rent money will come from and stuff like that.
But sis, I have a secret for you. The mystery of trusting in God in difficult times.
In Malachi, in that all-time famous bible verse about tithing that says, try me and see if I will not make your barns overflow.
The point here is not to talk about fasting.
My desire is to say that when you try God, when you dare him, my sister, God will not allow you to be put to shame especially if it is his reputation on the line.
When things are still hard I am sorry to say this, it is because you still have a plan B.
You still have a semblance of control over your life and your future.
But when you sit down and say God look. I am tired of doing this life on my own. I can not do this anymore. I surrender it ALL to you.
I am done. If you don’t take over I am ready to die, it’s your reputation on the line.
Then you surrender and wait.
I assure you by The God of heaven he will stick to his word and not allow you to be ashamed.
Psalm 112:7
He is not afraid of bad news; his heart is firm, trusting in the Lord.
Let me tell you this. This is me now. Honestly, there really isn’t anything that you will tell me that will make me freak out.
There really isn’t.
I thank God for the gift and ability to trust God in difficult times so much that I know that I am walking in his purpose.
And I trust that his plans for me are perfect.
Such that I say God looks. I know you will make a way out of this. If you don’t, like Daniel in the lion’s den, if you don’t save me I still will not bow down to the statue.
This means that if you do not make it come to my desired outcome, it is okay.
Whatever happens, is your plan since everything that happens to me is for my good because I am walking in your purpose.
So I am stress-free.
When I hear the devil start to plant seeds of doubt and fear in my heart I remember these bible verses about trusting God in difficult times and I will regain composure.
Isaiah 26:3
You keep him in perfect peace whose mind is stayed on you because he trusts in you.
And yes peace comes from knowing that he who runs the show always has perfect motives.
When stress or anxiety from the devil tries to creep in, remembering whose I am and that I am just but a piece of clay in God’s hand gives me peace.
Yall the level of minding my own business that I’m now in is on another level.
What I mean is by attempting to worry about stuff that is none of my business ( because it’s God’s business) it’s me sticking my nose in other people’s business.
But I refuse to be nosy.
I will stay in my lane and let God take care of his business. Like a baby, I’m not equipped to worry about where my diapers will come from.
That’s a mother’s job and in my case, it’s God’s job.
This state of mind has given me such peace that I never knew existed.
When they say the peace of God that surpasses all understanding. They mean the peace of not worrying.
Of knowing that someone else has got you.
If you are not trusting God in difficult times, you will never have that peace.
Bible verses about the power of trusting God
Psalm 37:5
Commit your way to the Lord; trust in him, and he will act.
This bible verse about the power of trusting God teaches us how to access the benefits of trusting in God.
I will use an example of a lady who meets a guy and wants God to endorse him as the one from God.
Sis, you have it all wrong. You must not make your own bed and then seek God for validation and or acceptance.
No. Instead you commit your way to God.
Talk to God about your desire for a husband BEFORE meeting him.
Ask God to bring this man to you and then when you meet someone you can ask God to confirm if indeed he is from him.
And God has ways of confirming stuff to you.
This Only works when you commit your plans, intentions, and desires. And God may not always follow through.
You may go to God asking for business ideas but he tells you to stay in that job for that season because he wants to work through you at your place of work.
But if you had already started a business and then say oh God bless my business, what if that wasn’t his desire for you at the point?. How will he bless something that is outside his will and plans for you?
So we must always commit our plans, and desires, to God beforehand not after and he will indeed act.
Fear not, for I am with you; be not dismayed, for I am your God; I will strengthen you, I will help you, I will uphold you with my righteous right hand.
Isaiah 41:10
Prayer for trusting God in hard times
Dear Father In Heaven, I come before you in absolute surrender. I acknowledge that I am weak and unable to deal with my issues by myself. Thank you for giving me this desire to trust and surrender to you.
AMEN.
